1、 Ceramic classification
(1) Classified by porcelain type: Currently, the main circulating items in the market include daily porcelain, bone ash porcelain, exquisite daily porcelain, underglaze (medium) color daily porcelain, daily fine pottery, ordinary ceramic cookware, and fine ceramic cookware. Daily ceramics (bone ash porcelain only has one grade) are classified into multiple grades based on the number or magnitude of appearance defects, such as superior, first-class, and qualified.
(2) Classified by the decorative method of the flower surface: According to the characteristics of the flower surface, it can be divided into overglaze color, overglaze color, underglaze color, colored glaze porcelain, and some uncolored white porcelain.
Overglaze colored ceramics are products made by pasting flower paper made of overglaze ceramic pigments on the glaze surface or directly painting the product surface with pigments, and then baking at 700-850 ℃. Due to the baking temperature not reaching the melting temperature of the glaze layer and the use of non glazed ceramic pigments, the flower surface cannot sink into the glaze and can only adhere tightly to the surface of the glaze layer. If there is a protrusion on the surface of the product when touched by hand, observe the unevenness with the naked eye.
The firing temperature of glazed ceramics is higher than that of overglaze ceramics, reaching the melting temperature of the product glaze. Ceramic pigments sink into the glaze during the melting of the glaze and are covered by the glaze layer after cooling. Touch the surface of the product with your hands, which is smooth like glass and has almost no unevenness.
Underglaze colored ceramics is a traditional decorative method in China. All the decorations of the product are carried out on the porcelain body, which is fired at high temperature after being glazed. This type of product is similar to in glaze colored ceramics, with the flower surface covered by the glaze layer, and the surface is bright and flat. The surface of the product is smooth when touched by hand, and sometimes there is a concave feeling in the decoration.
Color glazed porcelain adds a high-temperature coloring agent to the ceramic glaze, making the glazed surface of the fired product present a specific color, such as yellow, blue, bean green, etc.
White porcelain usually refers to ceramics that have not undergone any decoration.
